whats community service?

its one of my passion in life, something which i enjoy doing. by engaging in it, i learnt values and developed myself like ive never known before. Community service is mutual learning.

Imagine yourself cleaning up the home of a lonely elderly who lives in a one room flat. You clean the house, chat with her. What did she gain? What did you gain?

She enjoyed your company, she has a cleaner home.

You, on the other hand, gained more understanding of her life and saw things in other perspectives. You learned how to clean up a home, you learned to be more compassionate and understanding.

Your intangible benefits far exceeds what the elderly has received from you.

Now, who says that community service is a one way effort? You certainly benefit more.

Community service comes from your heart. If it isn't, don't bother giving.
