My SHF Journey

Its the end of the festival.

I certainly felt as if my soul has returned to my body after slogging out for so long. Its as if a huge part of me has returned right after the festival has ended. A huge load off my shoulders.

Its not as if the festival was not enjoyable at all. I guess its just the hectic schedule, the worries, the compliance to client's wishes and commands that kind of dulled the learning process. Managing an event is certainly not as easy as i thought it will be. Its so much different from organising events as a student where we do not need to pacify anyone (except for the occasionally nosy school offices). I will certainly reconsider my future in this line, which practically sucked the whole life out of me, 'forbidding' me from attending so many meetings and gatherings ;)

Back to my little reflection of the event. After being the hub I/C for 3 out of the 6 satellite hubs, namely Compass Point, The Centrepoint and Causeway Point, I've come to realise that managing the manpower and the exhibition and the stage performances altogether is no easy feat. Luckily i have capable hub managers like Clive whom i can leave most of the things to, ridding me of undue worries. Complaints were received from the public, some of which definitely has to be looked into whereas others are completely out of the blue and redundant. It is when we came into contact with these people that i realised how irrational a minority of us can be. Rushing from hub to hub during the first week (when i had to juggle The Centrepoint and Causeway Point) was also draining. I didn't want to neglect either one but in the end i felt that i have not paid much attention to The Centrepoint.:(

The feeling and images of the setup of the hub (which includes setting up of exhibition panels, stage, backdrop, laying of carpet, placing of exhibits) prior to the start of the hub are still fresh in my mind. We had to stay past 2am the day before and report to work by 9am the next day to brief our manpower. Luckily, the suppliers were all very nice and accommodating to all requests. In case you do not understand how massive the setup is, i will have some pictures uploaded for your reference in my later post!

Luckily, my colleagues were great people whom i went on supper trips with and who entertained me during those times, making the journey enjoyable. Colleagues like the glutton, shi jia, the endearingly 'suay cui', and my hia di, ivan and so on (will post their pictures and bio data when i have the time).

Now that the event is over, they are all starting to leave the company, starting from esther then ivan, jethro and shi jia. It hurts to say goodbye and it aches even more when i'm the one doing the compilation of review of manpower and archiving of photos and the ever dreadful paperwork. THANKS HUH EVERYONE.

Its time to resume my social life (however mundane it was)! Bring those floorball trainings and matches on! See YA my friends!

eased my stress

finally got my stress reliever after so looonnngggg...

went for stefanie sun's concert on Saturday night, 11 July at the Singapoe Indoor Stadium together with my younger sister. The 1st concert we've attended and boy!, was i WOW-ed by stefanie sun's performance. Her live singing was nearly flawless and she entertained the crowd rather well. only flaw might be that her choice of special guest was a bit too weak, if you know what i mean ;) overall, i must really say that she carried the show really well on her own! would love to attend another of her concert if i have the chance, and the money. I wasn't really a big fan of hers before, but after experiencing her 'charm' during sat night's concert, i've been surfing youtube for her videos.. haha!

ok and yes, that was indeed a stress reliever as i was feeling moody after working late at work every night for the past one week. my event will commence this 15 July till 26 July, and for this entire 12 days, i will be working non stop everyday.. that is something im both dreading and looking forward to. For, once it starts, it will end pretty fast, and soon, it will be the end of my internship and hard life.. LOL..

it will be long before i come back to post. meanwhile, i will wish myself all the best for the event (no bloopers!) and wish that i will get all modules for BOSS bidding window 2!

long long ago

wow.. it has been really long since i posted anything.

work is seriously too tiring for me to find the time to log in!

well, the event which all my colleagues and i are slogging for is going to happen in almost a week's time! fyi, i'm currently part of the team planning for Singapore HeritageFest 2009..

true, work is straining every bit of my life, and robbing my exciting moments with my friends, and making me lose tons of meetings and floorball cum uniy stuff.

got to make up all this once school reopens.. needa chiong all the floorball stuff right after SHF!

on the other hand, its not as if i dont enjoy my internship at all.. i have really nice colleagues whom i can click with.. ok.. thou shall not complain :)

had a friendly just now. it was with lmfc and the score was 7-2 to lmfc.. haha... i thought the game was well played by the outfielders but sucky for me since i let in 7 GOALS. tsk.. kudos to huifen and corliss for being the 2 esteemed goal scorers... and i pray that i dont continue this losing streak during div 2. come back, my golden fingers.........
